RECYCLING AND RECLAMATION
Ideally we want to see things refurbished and re-used. If we can't do this, we try to recycle the item or its components - and to help us do this, we work with a number of Partners. For example:
Computers
Those which cannot be salvaged and readily repackaged for use in this country are stripped of their essentials, rebuilt and shipped via St Peter's Church, Bellfields, to Uganda for use in local schools.
White Goods and Electricals
These are safety checked and PAT tested in house to make sure the appliances can be used in their new home safely and with peace of mind. If we can't reuse an item we try and keep it from landfill through the recovery of components, precious metals and the recycling of plastic cases etc. We work with Midex Reverse Technologies as a recycling partner
Antiques
Occasionally we receive a donation of a more valuable item, possibly even an antique. These are auctioned through the generosity of Ewbank Clarke Gammon Weller. The proceeds from such sales are then used to subsidise those in the community who are in the greatest need. "Demanufacturing"
We now want to do more to "demanufacture" things we can't sell or recycle. This means reducing items to their component parts such as wood, metal, fabric, foam etc. and then arranging for their recycling by specialist companies.
If you are able to help us in this, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
